The EXP810 Expansion Unit Model 81-DC attaches to selected DS4000 series midrange disk systems and comes in a compact, 3U rack-mountable enclosure that accommodates up to 16 E-DDMs, providing a physical storage capacity of up to 8 TB per enclosure.

EXP810 Model 81-DC is an ideal companion to the dc-powered, NEBS-3-compliant DS4700 Express Models 70-DC and 72-DC disk systems. Up to six Model 81-DC expansion units can be attached to either the DS4700 Express Model 70-DC or the DS4700 Express Model 72-DC to build physical storage configurations up to 56 TB.

The IBM H DS4000 EXP810 Storage Expansion Unit series is a family of storage  enclosures that provide 4 Gbps external Fibre Channel storage solutions for midrange business applications. The DS4000 EXP810 Expansion Unit offers:

• Primary storage for DS4000 family DS4700 and DS4800 disk storage systems
• Compact 3U disk expansion enclosure
• Capacity of up to 16 hard disk drives* per expansion unit
• Offers 4 Gbps Fibre Channel Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDM), or 4 Gbps Serial ATA (SATA) Enhanced Disk Drive Modules(E-DDM); also accommodates 2 Gbps Fibre Channel Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDM)
