Cisco WS – X6516 – GE – TX is a Catalyst 6500 series Gigabit Ethernet switch with 10/100/1000Base-T compatibility. This 16 port switching module is specifically designed for data centres and server environments characterised by a shared bus of 32Gbps and dedicated switch of 8Gbps such as Catalyst 6500 with CDF 256 switch fabric. WS X6516 in addition is equipped with a forwarding adaptor for superior data packet transmission, ACL (Access Control List) enforcement and QoS (Quality of Service).

This Gigabit Ethernet switch has 16 ports of RJ 45 connectivity set up with Category 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) of cables. This Catalyst switch has an interface of a singular fabric channel and is capable of being upgraded. This upgrading is achieved with adding of a DFC (distributed forwarding card). • An 8Gbps backplane connection set up in synchronization with 720Gbps shared bus and 256Gbps switch fabric connections
• RJ 45 interface compatible with Cat5 cables
• Each port is conforms to Supervisor Engine 1A, 2, and 720; it allows a queuing of 3 egress and 2 ingress transmissions
• Field upgradable adapter card allows DCEF (Distributed Cisco Express Forwarding) and centralization.
