Ports have RJ-45 connectors for Category 5, Category 5e, and Category 6 cable. The WS-X6748-GE-TX module has 1.3-MB per-port packet buffers and a dual-fabric channel interface. The switching module is upgradable to support distributed forwarding with an optional Distributed Forwarding Card (WS-F6K-DFC3).
The Catalyst 6000 switch WS-X6748-GE-TX Ethernet card offers forwarding architecture: These modules use the central Cisco Express Forwarding engine located on the supervisor engine; optional field-upgradable Distributed Cisco Express Forwarding daughter cards are available. orwarding performance: These modules forward packets up to 30 Mpps per system; they forward packets up to sustained 48 Mpps per slot for slots equipped with distributed forwarding cards (DFC or DFC3).
