HP AE327A MSA1500 SAN SCSI STARTER KIT

The HP StorageWorks 1500 cs Modular Smart Array MSA1500 is a 2Gb Fibre Channel SAN attached 2U controller shelf that connects to both enterprise-class SCSI and Serial ATA (SATA) disk enclosures. HP recommends SCSI drives for intensive heavy I/O requirements while SATA drives should only be used in archived, reference, or "near on-line" disk-to-disk backup configurations.

• Dual controllers (optional) can both be configured to provide fail-over protection. Controllers are configured as active /passive by default and in this manner support only Windows, Linux and NetWare
• Dual ACTIVE controllers (active/active) can also be supported individually in Windows, HP-UX, Linux, and NetWare environments.

• RAID 6 with HP's Advanced Data Guarding technology (RAID ADG)) - Highest level of fault tolerance, allocates two sets of parity data across drives and allows simultaneous write operations, this level of fault tolerance can withstand two simultaneous drive failures without downtime or data loss.
• 2 Gb/1 Gb Fibre connection to host - Supports both 1Gb, 2Gb and 4Gb Fibre Channel fabrics to ensure your investment in 1 Gb infrastructure is protected. Also works with the new 4Gb switches and HBAs at 2Gb speed.
• High performance controller(s) built on DAS to SAN (DtS) architecture.
• Scalable to eight SATA enclosures for a maximum of 64 TB or four SCSI enclosures for 16.8 TB of storage capacity with four dual channel SCSI I/O modules.
• MSA1500 offers hot plug expansion and replacement support - Hot plug expansion and replacement of hard drives and redundant controllers, for simple, fast installation and maintenance. Fans and power supplies are also hot plug replaceable. Dependent on individual operating systems.
